A group of lucky VIP Golden Ticket winners experienced a sneak peek tour of the Bay Pavilions.
The group was eager and curious as they kitted up in safety gear, ready to be the first of the general public to tour the Bay Pavilions before its doors officially open in June.
Here’s what they had to say after the tour …
Terry McDonough, who is is an avid swimmer and has 30-years work experience in the entertainment industry said: “I feel like I have a bond with the building after the walkthrough.”
“The pool area is great, but it was the theatre that blew me away,” Terry said.
“To see the infrastructure of the theatre – it’s quite big time! I have worked in the Opera House and can see it is similar but, in a smaller scale.”
Moruya’s Grace Heffernan grew up dancing and performing along the coast. She was amazed by the dance rehearsal room and theatre: “It’s incredible, there’s no facility on the coast like this.”
Kimmi Saker of 2EC Radio said the walkthrough was an eye-opening experience.
She admired the architecture: “I have been a bit of a Bay Pavilions stalker, doing drive-bys every few days just to see how it’s coming along – I have been amazed.”
“It’s even more incredible than what my mind imagined. I am so impressed by the size and features of the theatre,” Kimmi said.
Gayle Ferrier was drawn to the gym and felt inspired to begin her fitness journey: “After coming to have a look, I am keen to sign up and get back into it. I think the Bay Pavilions is great for the town.”
Carolyn Harding was most excited by seeing arts and aquatics facilities in the same location: “It is bringing together entertainment and aquatics – it’s going to be a real community place. It’s like a one-stop-shop for entertainment!”
Mrs Harding is also president of the Batemans Bay Indoor Aquatics Centre Committee, which was involved in the project from day one.
Over the years, she said the committee researched and gathered information from the community for the council to consider.
“The council listened and then went to the experts who have put it all together – this is something the community has formed,” Mrs Harding said.
Nick Harding said the community will be “gobsmacked by what they’re getting”.
“I can’t believe our little area has something like this,” Nick said.
The group of VIP Golden Ticket Winners left the construction site in awe. They will again be invited back to experience the Bay Pavilions’ pre-opening test event in May.
The Bay Pavilions team thanks ADCO and the Eurobodalla Shire Council for facilitating the sneak peek tour.
