SWIM SQUAD

SWIM SQUAD

Experience the Joy in a fun, safe and welcoming aquatic environment

Swim Squad

Squad swimming is a great way for everyone to develop lifelong skills, refine their technique and most importantly have fun in the water. At the Bay Pavilions, the coach is focused on giving every squad swimmer the best possible opportunity to improve and achieve their personal goals.

Our Squad program offers something for everyone, whether that is swimming for fitness, or competitively. We also offer a program suited to swimmers wanting to train for fitness, Triathlons or Ocean/Masters swimming.

The coaching philosophy at the Bay Pavilions is focussed on developing a positive team environment and culture. We believe that a coach can foster an enjoyable environment where athletes strive to become not only the best athletes they can be, but also develop skills that will enable them to be successful people.

Overall, the squad program promotes a positive learning experience through technical development of all strokes, adding fitness and broadening skill base. As well as improving swimmers’ aerobic capacity to be reinforced through more specific set design.

Coaches are always willing to discuss your child’s progress, recognising that discussions on pool deck can distract from the session, please contact them via phone or email to organise a suitable time.

Squad Coach

Lachlan Knight

At two-years-old, Lachlan began swimming and worked his way into squad swimming by the age of 5. He began competing aged 9 and quickly established himself as a specialist Breastroke + Butterfly swimmer, making qualifying times for 100m and 200m in both disciplines at State and Country Championships, as well as the 200m and 400m Individual Medley.

Aged 17, Lachlan swapped racing for teaching and began his career in learn-to-swim, where he taught a range of ages and levels, from children as young as 2-years-old, to kids starting in squads.

After a couple of years teaching learn-to-swim classes, Lachlan ventured into the world of coaching competitive strokes. He coached several swimmers to Country and State Championships, as well as masters’ swimmers.

Lachlan is passionate about his own health and fitness and can swim every session that he delivers.

Lachlan recently completed a Diploma of Business as he pursues a career within the aquatics industry. He is driven towards helping enrich the lives of individuals in the community.

Lachlan joined the Aligned Leisure team in 2022, and is building his squad team into an inclusive, high-performing swimming team.

He is also an avid fan of the AFL and the GIANTS, and you’ll always see him sporting some crazy socks.
