Come along and check out the brand new mood-boosting dance classes for people over 50 at Bay Pavilions.
Are you over 50 and looking for a physical, social and creative outlet? Dance it Up! 50+ is a fun, mood-boosting class with a mix of dance styles from Ballet to Bollywood.
Another class, Moving Forward! 50+ DANCE for Mobility is designed for those over 50 who would like to improve their mobility, are recovering from an injury or have a chronic condition that would benefit from physical activity.
Elise May, founder of Wellbeing In Motion is thrilled to announce that she has received seed funding from NSW Health to introduce the classes.
“If you have a body you can dance,” Elise said.
Elise is an award-winning professional dancer, choreographer and Yoga teacher who was trained to deliver Queensland Ballet’s Dance for Parkinson program in Queensland.
“I now wish to turn my attention to promoting the benefits of dance and wellness for the broader community by offering these classes,” she said.
“Research shows that dance is a great way to bring people together with a sense of community, improving confidence and motivation to maintain an active lifestyle.”
“Approximately 48 percent of people in the Eurobodalla Shire are over the age of 50. In this age group chronic disease and injuries are common. These classes are a fun way to improve physical, social and emotional health for those who take part,” she added.
